Distance Learning

Hey Blog! During my time doing distance learning such as the COVID-19 pandemic or online courses, I take I have learned that it's a double-edged sword. Doing distance learning takes a lot from the individual as you would have to pace yourself and understand that your grade highly reflects on the amount of time and effort you put into it. When I was distance learning, I learned that even though I have more time on my hands, I also feel less motivated to do certain tedious work. As a future educator, I believe giving the right amount of work that isn't tedious or easy will be the best way to keep students motivated and engaged. I also believe using cameras will help keep focus of the students.

OER

OER or Open Educational Resources are extremely useful in today's age of technology and education. OER works as educational information that is open to anyone's use and free use through Creative Commons. This is a way to enhance education and information for anyone including, students, teachers, or anyone interested in certain topics/interests. This type of resource is the one which can be broad in science, math, reading, etc. as far as serving to be extremely educational to the point where some schools have started to use them as curriculum. A great example is the MIT OER where articles are constantly being updated and posted by different teachers, professors, and students.

Powerpoint in Class

When creating my PowerPoint, I originally had fun and loved the idea of creating to teach something to students. Although it was challenging cramming certain information and teaching it within a time frame, it was also fun realizing and filtering out what you expect students to know based on the grade you teach compared to what they should learn. This gave me ideas on how I can enhance my teaching in the future when it comes to teaching things and giving the ability to students to learn exactly what they need and what should be left for another lecture.
