Blog Journal #6

Diigo

Hey Blog! My experience with Diigo has been mostly positive and I've liked to think that it's helpful when connecting with one community. In contrast when I was using it to see others post and their comments on Web 2.0 tools, among sharing other related topics with fellow peers and classmates, the practical use was there. In contrast, I would say using Diigo is extremely primitive as I find it hard to be more advanced unless being remodeled. I would also like to mention that Diigo would significantly thrive if it was more user friendly where there website would have sections that didn't overlap with their tools. For example a link can be extremely long and overlap other text due to not having a website border, or find a way to be more interactive for the users to want to post more.

Experience in Blogging

The experience I've had in blogging has been exciting and motivating the recent few weeks. I've blogged before about technology I would find interesting in my spare time throughout middle and high school, but having to blog about education and the changes within the education system that can be challenging has been insightful as a education major. What I loved about the process is the amount of research and time I have to take to find out about the subject I intend to write about and having the ability to be creative about it. For example having to find new learning websites that are interactive for students and having to act out as if I was a student checking out the material to write about it on my blog. It's also refreshing to give out my opinion and suggestions to other while I blog as they can test out the tools I mention to see if they want to implement it within their own classroom.

PBS Learning Media

A tool I cam across is PBS Learning Media which is a free tool that provides educational videos from K-12 and can be used as a learning community between teachers and students. Students are able to create an account along with their teachers and they can enter a code provided by a teacher where they're able to assign certain videos and assignments that pair with the videos. The video and assignments range from science, social students, mathematics, English literature/language arts, psych/health, engineering, technology and etc. The website is so interactive it can even eb used with google classroom and share through other platforms provided. The website/tool is extremely useful when trying to plan certain aspect of a topic and needing a broad lesson plan to teach students.
